Everywhere tomorrow? So why is there no national action on this? And why are you hiding the fact that there is a special HE sector conference happening called by branches who want a secretary of state dispute? Same strategy as 2022 - trying to ignore the democratic processes you don't like.

Nottingham today. Everywhere tomorrow. 2,700 staff put at risk. 600+ jobs targeted. At least 48 courses facing closure. What happens here sets the template for the sector. Stand with Nottingham.

University of Brighton management has given notice to terminate its recognition agreement with UCU alongside collective agreements covering key terms and conditions. This isn't just about Brighton. What happens here could have implications for branches across the UK.

If I was these guys, I’d be hoping for a blowout by election that shows they’ve trounced the Green Party, and I’d then try to ride this bullshit to another general election win. Because the shine is going to come off this stuff very quickly.

I assume we’ll also get the non-negotiable of British politics: scything cuts to benefits, massive increases in military spending and sucking up to whichever mad emperor is on the throne in Washington. Much the same shit we were always getting , with a veneer of democratic engagement, basically.

Assurances will have been made offscreen - they always are - so I’d guess the upshot here is that the triple lock on pensions is a goner; we will get some faff-arsed, wholly inadequate will-this-do version of a personal care system, and we will get perfunctory efforts to rejoin lesser EU programmes.

The section on immigration was the worst bit of Burnham's speech. Applauding Mahmood's work, celebrating cutting number and cutting boat crossings & then a glib thank you to migrants who do make it here & work for "us". You can't do janus-faced migration politics & claim to be anti-fascist.

Seeing Angela Eagle weeping(?) at Andy Burnham's speech and all the bland, vapid centrists of the Labour right and centre applauding Burnham. It rankles. They spent 4 years doing their best to crap all over hope and any chance of Corbyn coming to power. These people can't be trusted.

What will happen to the now young and middle aged people when they retire? Most will be on crap, insecure Defined Contribution pensions, having a proper state pension will be all the more important for them. It shouldn't be either/or but always about redistribution.
