Darn. Thought I had frozen Mac and cheese but I don’t. This is a sad substitute. Need to do a Trader Joe’s run! (The hatch chile mac and cheese is my absolute fave!)

A cup of microwave store brand east mac on a plate

I doubt I’ll even get my usual ~3-5 trick or treaters this evening given that it’s supposed to rain all afternoon /evening 🙁 feel bad for all the kiddos that this is not great Halloween weather!

Travel is always so fun. Dude in the window seat got mad at me for waiting until the lady in the aisle actually was able to walk forward before getting up to deplane instead of shoving her I guess.

At #DPS2026, @caseydreier.bsky.social and Jack Kiraly got a standing ovation from the space science community as they receive the Harold Masursky award for their service to “Save Our Science” with their political advocacy for space exploration.

What happens when an asteroid gets too close to a white dwarf? New research led by PSI's Jordan Steckloff reveals a "kilometer-size barrier" that prevents asteroids from breaking directly into dust, challenging previous models of planetary debris formation. 🔗 buff.ly/rQ75Ikf

Cosmic crisp apples are the best travel apples. They taste pretty good, and I cut this one up 10 hours ago and there’s essentially zero browning.

A ziplock bag full of cut up apple on a hotel table. The apple still looks perfectly fresh

More airports need to be like Columbus and have coffee vending machines. I wanted a coffee but the lines are ridiculous. Ended up getting a caffeinated smoothie instead just because the line was so much shorter

Ugh. About an hour ago I thought to myself, I could use a cup of coffee or tea for the caffeine boost. Then I got distracted. And now it’s too late (sadly, 11am is my cutoff time because I go to bed early because I get up early. Sigh).

I am quite tired today because I had to interrupt my sleep to medicate Echo at 2am (poor baby had urinary issues again yesterday). My sleep purring officemate is not helping me feel awake at my desk this morning 😂

hmm, maybe deciding to take gabapentin this morning was *not* the move for being able to focus and not feel sleepy....(my back is temporarily angry again because it apparently did not like the chairs at the dealership while I waited for my car to get fixed)

I did a deep dive on my newest paper on AAS's YouTube channel! This one's for the true nerds that want to know all about what material strength is, how giant impact codes work and why we're still not quite sure how the Moon formed. If that's you, this interview is for you!

New AAS Journal Author Series: Adeene Denton (Southwest Research Institute) on how rock strength changes the Moon-forming giant impact. In her simulations, a hot, solid Theia can leave an intact Moon, while a colder, stronger Theia makes the classic debris disk. www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWR6... 🔭

Ugh. Because the car stuff ate up my entire non-barn part of Saturday, I didn’t get all my chores and grocery shopping done. Spent all morning on chores and now I have to leave the house. I hate leaving the house on Sundays. That’s supposed to be pajama day
