I run @piccalil.li and having publications like CSS-Tricks around is really important. We all help and challenge each other and the result is a better ecosystem for everyone else. That's the whole point! I really hope this situation gets resolved, or CSS-Tricks gets a new owner that cares.

Update on my proposal for ::drag-image to style the after-image of dragged elements: github.com/w3c/csswg-dr... Things are looking bright for this, as it's currently labelled as Agenda+ and is on the CSSWG summer 2026 meeting agenda. Can say I'm excited and intrigued to see where this is going

One of the things that caught my attention during my CSSWG adventures last year was a pseudo-selector called ::drag. Hopefully, I hope this becomes an actual pseudo-element and maybe an additional pseudo-selector called ::dragged-image which I proposed would help you style the after-image itself.🧍🏾‍♂️

I think it's the joke phase of it that I find the most entertaining. It feels like pre-AI era of banter of "which framework is the best?"

I certainly see it as a friendly back and forth (we're starting to get into the joke phase of it now). In this current climate of slop output and skill erosion, seeing professionals experimenting with and analysing a small interface pattern at length is a very welcome change of pace.

Successfully moved from Vercel to Cloudfare. I love Vercel, but I wish I did this earlier. Especially with the high price tag Vercel has and commercial requirements pertaining to my product. We are not just there quite yet.
