I discovered the surprising story of what really happened in 2008 (not enough housing) and accidentally became a housing policy guy. https://kevinerdmann.substack.com/ https://www.amazon.com/stores/Kevin-Erdmann/author/B099P7SN1G

Obama 🔥: "The president wasn't even mad about the Saddam Hussein comparison! That part didn't bother him. But he was very upset about the Cheesecake Factory comments. He took great umbrage. The mobilized a whole of government response to that joke!"

Saw this on Facebook. The only explanation is that Trump is so humble about the Lord's love that he quietly spreads everywhere he goes that he puts on a show of being abusive & insulting just to keep his good deeds anonymous. That's how far he goes to make sure he doesn't get public credit for this.

People are overestimating how much the Trump administration could do to interrupt the election. For instance, if they tried to kidnap election officials and fly them to African prisons, the courts would intervene and object.

Take a look at how deeply FHA's market share collapsed during the housing bubble. The federal agencies were incredible counter-cyclical, until 2008 when they were forced to reject 1/3 of their 20th century customer base.

Mortgage access was tightened even more than the sharp rise in average FICOs on approved mortgages suggests. Looking away from the mortgage crackdown kevinerdmann.substack.com/p/looking-aw...

AEI's FHA Watch understates it. In 2012! they were writing reports like "Nightmare at FHA" "How the FHA Hurts Working-class Families and Communities." FHA would go on to post a decade plus of new business with the lowest claim rates in 50 years.

I do think when historians look back the period the exact moment where it flipped and started going the other way won’t be anything any politician did but my Minneapolis neighbors weathering the worst of the regime in the streets, rallying together, fighting back, and winning

If NYC permitted more homes so that it could grow, it would only become more expensive. That's why in its high growth era, Ellis Island was teeming with only the world's rich and powerful. They were the only ones who could make it there. Because it was building such agglomeration value.

So many of the deeper revelations depend on Fielder's accurate portrayal of his last conversation with Holmes at the prison. How sure can we be that his dialog is accurate? (The whole movie leading up to that point revolves around our inability to know the answer to that.)

I feel like when Fielder was especially awkward, it was distracting. One possible reason those scenes were includes was a commitment to sincerely convey what he felt like and how he acted when he was there. Or was that detritus from the show they originally thought they were making? Something else?

Saw You Can See Everything. I will repeat what you have probably heard. Really great. Thought provoking. Deeper than you think it will be. If you think you’ve seen all the spoilers, you’ll probably still be surprised more than once. You’ll feel the whole being greater than the sum of the parts.

A bunch of unhinged left-NIMBYs are trying to frame these projects, which guarantee every current NYCHA tenant a *brand new, permanently affordable home*, as some evil plot to “bulldoze the black and brown tenants”, and are trying to take over DSA to oppose these projects They are blatant liars.

Let's be honest about why GW is going so hard for the demolition of public housing. "We need housing now." WE as in the upper middle class white people who comprise much DSA's base.
Bulldoze the Black and brown tenants out, replace them with white market rate tenants.
YIMBY 101.

If share buybacks make the share price rise then they were definitely the most socially beneficial thing to do with the cash. If you have a pov that we should stop companies from driving up the share price by buying back shares, you should concentrate on things you understand, not finance.

If all you knew about American housing was this column, I guess you'd think that our cities are expensive because they are full of voters who keep encouraging more growth and housing in order to reap the positive externalities of agglomeration. 1/

"Bird does not, in the end, propose a solution to what he deems the 'land trap'… He toys with the idea of a land value tax. He recognizes that it solves the trap. But he seems to believe that it is permanently politically unviable." www.liberalcurrents.com/how-to-escap...

Occasional reminder, because almost everyone positions their side rear view mirrors too far in. YOU SHOULD HAVE NO BLIND SPOTS. Anything next to your car, beyond the end of the mirror, should be easily visible out your side window. You should not see your own car in your mirrors.

Stephen Miller claims Somali-Americans in Minnesota are "buying Mercedes, buying BMWs, they buy a nice house, all their kids fly first class all over the world" (This is a lie!)

Black lives? You betcha! Black education? Meh Women don't need housing and schooling. Am I right? Humans can legally drive to school, preferably not this one. Science is real. Learn it somewhere else. Love is love, especially from a distance. Kindly stay out of this town.
