At major nonprofit medical centers, mean CEO compensation rose 93% from 2005 to 2015. Physician pay rose 10%. Inpatient stays fell. They were not paid more because more care was delivered. Physicians are leaving and we call it burnout. Clin Orthop Relat Res, 2018.
