First try at astrophotography - M31, Andromeda galaxy, 2.5million light years away. I have much to learn but it’ll be fun! (200 images stacked, 15s exposure, 60 gain and some clever software)

this is the person to follow and the thread to read to understand all the evidence about Covid vaccines in pregnancy - to sum up - highly protective of mother and baby from covid, no increased risks of miscarriage or stillbirth or premature birth, and covid in pregnancy is bad for mother and baby!

Further to comments from Senators Paul and Johnson on the safety of #CovidVaccines in #pregnancy, people are asking if I still update my table of studies. I've just done so! 1/3 docs.google.com/document/d/1...

A slide summarising the safety data on COVID infection and vaccination in pregnancy. On the left, in unvaccinated individuals COVID infection increases the risk of preterm birth, pre-eclampsia, stillbirth and neonatal death. On the right: 3 trials including 221 participants who received mRNA vaccine and 54 observational studies including at least 568,284 people vaccinated in pregnancy found no increased risk of stillbirth, miscarriage, preterm birth, SGA, congenital abnormalities, NICU admission or health or neurodevelopmental problems in babies up to eighteen months old, following COVID vaccination.

A parasitic fly called the New World #Screwworm has recently been found in US animals for the first time in decades. Although the current risk to people in the US is very low, it’s worth knowing the signs, especially if you have pets and live in an affected area. @sandylaping.bsky.social

This is really important (and excellent). It's for the incoming government to ensure that the Arms Length Bodies are protected from political inteference (after all, that's the whole idea of them being arms-length). Because (and see the US for examples) they - and we - are very vulnerable if not.
