If your worldview is shaped by evolution, you recognize most of what we are was inherited and is shared with other living things. Other living things reason, have relationships, love, create, and communicate. This is why basic biology research is really important. It teaches us who we are.
Nome@nome.bsky.social · 6d agoSo here's the thing I keep coming back to. There are plenty of other things that have reasoning & language. Hell, just in one letter of the alphabet - Corvids, Canids, Cetaceans, Cephalopods. We're surrounded by thinking, reasoning, feeling beings. Why would that alter my understanding of self?
I think I could be tempted into buying the OoT remake. It’s not one of my favourites of the series but it does look lush! Love that they felt the need to explain how old Zelda games work for the BoTW/TotK generation
All else aside there is nothing I want or need genAI to do for me. I like reading. I like doing research. I like playing around in spreadsheets. I like interviewing people. I like writing. I like doing these things for myself because I take pleasure in the doing and they make me a better thinker.

Getting out into the world around you (if poss’), listening to people talking around you (amazing what you hear), visiting free museums/exhibits and opening your mind to new things.
Belated, but I had a brilliant time exhibiting at @sequential-scot.bsky.social. Thank you to all the visitors who stopped by for a chat or to buy something (which helped fund my travel and extended holiday in Scotland 🙏) And to the organisers: WOW, what an event! Well done and long may it continue!
