I am working-at-home-only until my maternity leave starts and I *am* sad to miss out on the drama of the houses coming down all along the road across from campus. Can’t wait to see what gets built! Hopefully some sorta dense housing! Very grateful for on-campus friends to keep me updated.

everything in my life feels very urgent right now, and i'm not a fan.

Me, a few months ago: “there’s no way it’s worth spending money on maternity things, it is such a short amount of time! It’s such a waste!” Me, now: “I will spend any amount of money I need to if it makes me feel even 10% more comfortable for the next one to two months” 🫩

Whenever I’m in a crowd during an O Canada anthem I *always* tear up because it’s a *sing a long!!* and it’s always so wholesome to hear the whole audience participate BUT AT THE END OF MY OWN CITIZENSHIP CEREMONY? Cried. Full tears. 🇨🇦

an update: this elevator is still confused AND it is the *only* running elevator of 4 in this 22-storey residence

if it is nighttime with at least partially clear skies where you are, a lunar eclipse is in progress and the moon will go deeper into a a red colour now and over the next ~3 hours - go see if you can spot it from your bedroom window! 🌕

I just spent about 10 minutes sitting in the shade in my driveway picking a containers-worth of blueberries; just what I could reach within arm’s length. This blueberry bush is ~7ft tall and goes down the length of our house. We have. A lot. Of berries.

As part of a group of amateur and professional astronomers specifically watching for either a flash from impact or a resulting plume, no one in the group (including me) has reported seeing anything yet, at least not anything obvious. Worth a shot here given the rare clear skies in NS, but now sleep

The Falcon 9 stage has now impacted the lunar surface. Astronomers followed its approach until last night; haven't yet seen any reports of anyone detecting the impact flash itself.

I don’t see anything in my image previews at this point and I’ve crashed the imaging software just like this rocket debris has crashed into the moon…. 🥴 Task failed? But images acquired? So maybe a success regardless? In any case, I’ll submit my images to teams Doing Science. 🚀

Space junk up, space junk down. We’ve got a high-interest doubleheader tonight, both centered on the U.S. Eastern Seaboard, both involving SpaceX: a pre-dawn launch, and a lunar impact.

Moon’s up. Tonight (aka morning of Aug 5) at 3:35am Atlantic, a large piece of SpaceX Falcon 9 debris will impact the edge of the moon (from our perspective). The impact flash itself is unlikely to be seen, but there may be a visible (with telescopes) plume extending out from the disc of the moon.
