This is what happened to the Republican Party from the 90s on in increasingly blue states like Oregon, Washington, and California. Rather than trying to move TOWARDS voters, they radicalized AWAY from them, becoming ever more electorally unviable in statewide races. It’s a peculiar dynamic.
