Across the Middle East and wider region, the escalation of violence is having a devastating impact on children. As tensions rise, children’s lives hang in the balance. We urge all parties to abide by international humanitarian law and protect civilians. It must stop.

Instead of playing or learning, countless children caught in armed conflict are forced to watch their kindergartens, schools, and homes come under attack, losing everything familiar to them. No child deserves to grow up in such conditions, and no parent should ever have to witness it.

A child should not stand where destruction speaks louder than play. Civilians are not a target.
