Not at all pleased that I was told to present early since the person before me didn’t show up, resulting in half my friends missing my talk entirely… 🫠

It’s me, I’m friends
Check out the Poissant Lab (and friends) at #CSEE2026 next week! Looking forward to cool science and great chats with good people 🤓 And thanks to the talented @charlottebrbn.bsky.social for putting together this amazing graphic @csee-sceemtgs.bsky.social @csee-scee.bsky.social
I was interviewed by Nature about how I (sometimes) work 40h/week or less to maintain work-life balance during my PhD. My solution: work when you’re motivated regardless of time, work more when you have impending deadlines, and don’t be afraid to take a day off! www.nature.com/articles/d41...

First in-person, multi-institution Summit since COVID in the books. Long overdue... Great to reconnect, with plenty of catching up and productive discussions with @aureliastrauss.bsky.social @jocelynpoissant.bsky.social @victoriacrozier.bsky.social @mickyahn.bsky.social @weronikaklecel.bsky.social
We are always and forever just a bunch of uglydogs 💕 Thanks @blairbraverman.bsky.social Old drawing that resurfaced in my mind today!
This made me realize how much time has passed since I was first introduced to the #uglydogs & followed every minute of Blair’s Iditarod, and managed to make me simultaneously feel every single feeling I’ve had since then. So now I’m a mess 🥺 Forever grateful it all resulted in me getting Timber 🩵
It's hard to think about retiring from racing, because mushing is, and will always be, a huge part of my life. So I took a journey with my older dogs, who have retired themselves. They've taught me so much over the years; now, they're teaching me to live with change. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/18/m...
Someone asked me today after my presentation what the horses were doing in the pictures with their faces in the sand, and I have to say that’s my favourite question I’ve ever gotten on one of my presentations 🥺 They’re snoozing! 😴
Trying to remind (convince?) myself that the 12-16h days we work are indeed work and not vacation, and I’m not wasting time or neglecting my PhD while I’m on Sable, but damn am I ever stressed about everything I have to do when I’m back on the mainland 🙃
Sable Island season 3 in full swing (complete with the cold I picked up at CSEE 😅🙃)
If anyone at @csee-sceemtgs.bsky.social wants to go to the banquet but didn’t get a ticket, let me know!! I can’t make it anymore, I have to leave for fieldwork tomorrow (Tuesday) night
Come for some /very/ preliminary results on my first PhD chapter on density-dependent parasitism & female reproductive traits in a feral horse population! Tomorrow at 2:45pm at @csee-sceemtgs.bsky.social
Anyone else not able to log into the NSERC online services? It’s been happening since yesterday, keeps saying my password is wrong but I try to reset it and get this, just blank 🫠
I haven’t been keeping up with the Iditarod much this year, but very disappointed to hear @quincemountain.bsky.social was withdrawn today despite having no intention to scratch #uglydogs
Very excited to finally share this! All of my remote fieldwork has taught me a lot, but there’s just something different about Sable www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Our remote fieldwork taught us how to band together as scientists
Three early-career researchers thrown together on Sable Island, a treeless island in the North Atlantic, think others can learn from their experiences.

Nothing fills me with rage quite like trying to do anything in Word, PowerPoint, or Excel. All I want to do is rearrange some images for my lecture on Friday but I’m about to throw my laptop out a window 🙃
If anyone has advice on what kind of medical professional to see for TMJ/trigeminal nerve pain, I’m all ears. Intermittent pain over the past couple months has become much more regular, to the point where eating solid foods is extremely painful 😩
Merry Christmas and happy Hanukkah from me and Timber! 🎄🕎
Excited to announce the publication of the first chapter of my PhD in Biological Conservation! We evaluated individual behavioral variation and its implications for delineating intraspecific units for the conservation of caribou. Read more here: kwnsfk27.r.eu-west-1.awstrack.me/L0/https:%2F...
The first paper from my PhD is out in Parasitology! Using DNA metabarcoding, I show patterns of parasite infection in Sable Island horses! It's open access, so go check it out! doi.org/10.1017/S003...

Yesterday a few of us met on campus at 6am to necropsy a collared moose, which was a 3.5h drive then 2km bushwhack away, but the lab truck had other plans & started overheating less than an hour outside Saskatoon… turns out that saved us from a loooong waste of a day
Press release from a former labmate’s most recent paper, congrats Alex! Find me in the field pictures 🤠 www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

When you were born in Whapmagoostui in December but raised in Montreal/Sherbrooke, winter in Saskatoon hits hard & fast. Less than half an hour outside this afternoon and he ran in and curled up tight in bed!
I guess I should reintroduce myself! I’m a PhD candidate on the @sihorses.bsky.social project at @usask.bsky.social, and did my MSc on the Ram Mountain bighorn sheep project at @usherbrooke.bsky.social Currently working on density-dependent carry-over effects on SI horse life history traits
I guess I should maybe post something to introduce myself, so: Hi! I’m Victoria, I did my MSc at USherbrooke on the Ram Mountain bighorn sheep, and am now a PhD student at USask working on the Sable Island feral horses! And I’m terrible at keeping up with social media
