What Makes Linguistic Representations Good Models of High-Level Visual Perception in the Human Brain? This question underlies the study presented in our new preprint. We trained brain-encoding models to predict fMRI responses to naturalistic images from LLM-derived embeddings of image captions.

Our call for papers is live!! The 7th Workshop on Gender Bias in NLP will be co-located with AACL and will be remote-only. Deadline for direct submissions is September 2.

📢 Call for Papers! 📢 Submissions are open for the 7th Workshop on Gender Bias in NLP #GeBNLP, co-located with AACL 2026! 🌐 GeBNLP 2026 will be held in remote-only mode 🗓️ Deadline: September 2, 2026

🎉 Excited to welcome Lorena Calvo Bartolomé to our lab! Her expertise in NLP and signal processing will bring fresh perspectives to our research. She will be working on TOLD, a project exploring voice-based data collection as a richer alternative to written annotation. #NLProc

"openai.com" was once the personal homepage of a guy named glenn (2001), and "tiktok.com" was the quaint shared homepage of a couple as their relationship progressed from dating to married with a baby (2000). THREAD!!!

New paper w/ UK AISI: Millions of people now use AI to help them write and communicate. In three experiments (14k participants, 3m+ human ratings) we show that AI writing assistance systematically distorts writer personas – their perceived beliefs, personality, and identity. 🧵

Excited to share that our paper "One Persona, Many Cues, Different Results: How Sociodemographic Cues Impact LLM Personalization" (joint work with @franziweeber.bsky.social, Jan Batzner and Sebastian Padó) got accepted to the main conference of #ACL 🎉

Does it matter how you prompt an LLM with a persona? Do LLMs respond differently to natural conversation history compared to names and explicit mentions? Go check out our new preprint! 👀

The submission deadline for CMCL is coming up in less than a month! (Feb 25) CMCL will be co-located with LREC and take place on May 16!🌴https://sites.google.com/view/cmclworkshop/cfp

Even with identical sociodemographic info, how LLMs are given it changes downstream bias results. Our new preprint (w/ @veraneplenbroek.bsky.social, Jan Batzner & Sebastian Padó) tests cues with varying external validity across 10 personas, 4 tasks & 7 LLMs: arxiv.org/abs/2601.18572

Different sociodemographic cues for gender (male, female, and non-binary personas) result in different LLM answers to a medical advice request.
