The Guardian is pushing ahead with its 'sale' of the Observer. But the journalism continues... If you value the Guardian or Observer, I urge you to read this. It's my attempt to investigate 'the money behind the money'. Who is 'buying' us? And why? open.substack.com/pub/broligar...

Who is 'the money behind the money?'

As the Guardian announces the 'sale' of the 233-year-old Observer to Tortoise Media, I wave hello to my new bosses (hi!) with an investigation of their finances.

In truth, every single major piece of legislation ought to be this somberly undertaken, this well attended, this carefully considered, and this passionately, but cordially, argued. If our elected chamber can be what we witnessed today, why can't it all the time?

Please consider signing and sharing this petition to stop the government from using public money to bail out private equity (again). Thank you 💪🏼🙏🏼🌊🆘

A visit to the Lords today to meet with the wonder that is @greenjennyjones.bsky.social, and hear the 3rd reading of the Water (Special Measures) Bill. As the bill now moves to ‘the other place’, we will be campaigning hard for further amendments, esp. banning public bail out of water companies.

Didn’t somebody once say that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? Let’s end this never ending cycle of public bills bailing out private equity and bring water back into public ownership, now. www.ft.com/content/bc6e...
