One of the frustrating things about the loss to Argentina, and indeed almost all the losses of the last 8 years, is they’ve been so tepid. England likes a plucky loser and valiant attempt. Hence why 90 and 96 have such cultural relevance. The losses recently have no such longevity beyond references
