Although the greatest total rainfall in Cape Breton was in Victoria County (280-320 mm ~12"), it did not fall at the extreme rate there as it did in Richmond Co where the heaviest damage occurred. 23 mm/hr over ~8hrs at Sampsonville late Fri/early Sat. #nsstorm

Rainfall around the GTA over the past 12 hours (to ~6:30 pm EDT) that lead to many issues today. Based on this and several rain gauges, Orangeville-Bolton-Vaughan got hit with 80-100 mm (3-4") much of which fell over a 90-minute period. Pickering max fell earlier today #onstorm

Ocean surface temperatures are running fairly warm off the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia now. 20C/68F not far offshore of Halifax. Part of the story with recently high humidity and dew points.

This is at least the 2nd time I've seen something like this. If there's a smarter, tropical person that can better describe why these happen... would love that.

Sunday 12:32 pm: Just Because Department: Typhoon Bavi is tracking toward Rota, ~halfway between Guam to the south, Saipan to the north. Edge of eye is ~59 miles from Rota, Saipan, 75 miles from eye edge with 86 mph gusts. 140 mph winds shown by radar at ~8,000’ altitude.
