I've figured out why all those bulkheads contain rocks. Essentially its just like Earth ships with rocks in the structure. The rocks stop the sailing ships from toppling over sideways. Star Trek is often a metaphor for the Age of Sail, the rocks do the same thing - they keep the starship upright.
Starship Construction Technician testing that the consoles explode properly when the ship is hit. Consoles that don't explode fail to relieve plasma power pressure in the system. Instead the plasma builds up in key systems, which could rupture and kill the entire crew.

My take on the S.S. Botany Bay re-imagined. Enjoy. #StarTrek #3dmodel #lightwave
A few tweaks. I also recoloured the objects to give a better impression of what the finished design might feel like. The new outer ring would be substantial but de-emphasised, keeping the original DS9 silhouette clear.
Georges Méliès' A Trip to the Moon (Le voyage dans la lune) was released 124 years ago today. This silent, black-and-white film is the forebear of everything this account is about. 🖖 Enjoy!

Don’t ask me why I did this. I just HAD to, okay? When you’ve got an Elmo impression in your back pocket and it’s combined with “In the Pale Moonlight,” how could you not?
Painting of Probert's tug ship and wireframe (Ships of the Line)
It's a repair tug, also by Probert. I believe there's a nice render of it in one of the Ships of the Line calendars.
A missed opportunity - we never had a TNG episode with variable gravity in the shuttlebay.

Starfleet standard and long range shuttle sketch for TMP by Andrew Probert. The long range shuttle appeared as the Vulcan shuttle that brought Spock aboard the Enterprise. The smaller shuttles were conceived for the cargo bay scene, but ultimately did not appear
A somewhat different bridge set There is a dolphin access point - must be Cetacean Ops
I feel as if the Elkins ⬅️ is a better/more integrated version of the Yeager ➡️ If the underslung tanks were removed, then it would be even closer.
A better look at the short lived updated Captains Chair I did the concept for in S04Ep05 'Level Five Transporter accident'.🖖 #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds

I wanted to have a TNG-era cargo shuttle, but I was getting nowhere trying to model the Type-9a as it doesn't work very well in 3D without changes. I decided instead to create a variant of the Type-6. The regular Type-6 has a clear cut separating the forward […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
Pike’s foreknowledge as super plot armor figures in the B-plot of my STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS spec. In the Austin Film Festival 2023 finalist story, he believes it gives him and the crew super plot armor, which leads to some dubious choices. Read it here: drive.google.com/file/u/1/d/1...
In scenes like this, Pike knowing his fate seems almost like a superpower—he knows he can’t be killed—so we the audience know what he’s about to do just as he’s about to do it, where his only dialogue is giving Erica the con—it’s a great moment and is the kind of thing I love about SNW 🖖
