Linux guy, retro-computing and electronics enthusiast, hobbyist graphic designer and 3D artist doing bits and pieces for the revived Commodore brand. Occasional writer and musician. Also that kid with the weird eyes off of GamesMaster.

My book's back in stock and starts shipping tomorrow. If you haven't heard about it, check out the reviews. Many readers have really enjoyed this very personal odyssey through video gaming history - as well as its behind-the-scenes anecdotes, stories, and personal experiences.

Unsolicited propaganda from The Torygraph, delivered straight to my Android phone this morning alongside the reminder bring the milk in. 🙄 @mrjamesob.bsky.social talks a lot about the stubbornly persistent influence of the right-wing press in the digital age. Same with desktop PCs since Windows 10.

Here is the complete "Doctor Who - Full Circle" set for your enjoyment. I'm not how if there was much value in trying to preserve these, but it was definitely something to do... #3DViewMaster 1. Doctor Who, Romana and K9, ready for lift off

Digging through some of my old stuff and found this! I loved these reels as a kid and all of the ones I owned are here. There's a Doctor Who set I remember vividly. I still have a 20 year old transparency scanner, but not sure if it can work on these.

A photo of the C64C Ultimate retail box has surfaced online. I would have used the less familiar NTSC version as a base (again) as I really liked that blue/black colour scheme. For the record, Peri still had creative control over the original Ultimate's box. He just seemed to like what we did. 🙂

Vacuum cleaner repair Saturday. Pulling out a half inch thick hair wrap with tweezers one f@!#ing strand at a time because this part of the assembly doesn't come apart. 🤬

So was yours plugged into a NES, SNES, N64 or even a Famicom? A Gameboy on a circuit board setup, and cables to the shell of the Gameboy. (The picture below is for a Famicom)

Updated my PCB design for a 24-pin compatible flash ROM from years ago. This can replace the ROMs in long-board C64s. Adds a bank switch and breaks out the address lines used by SIDKick Pico. These 64K PLCC chips are not so easy to find nowadays, but you can still get them.

Built these adaptors so I can install one of the later 8565 VIC-II chips in a breadbin, works fine. But oddly, the 'grey dot' bug is not there. Same chip in a short board, it is. I thought it's internal to the chip's logic, not the board? By the way, I know the chip looks fake. It isn't. 🙂

AI chatbot started talking sh*t, so I complained and it insisted it was working on its accuracy. I replied "Sure you are", which it identified as "Shōyu wa" and immediately switched into Japanese and told me all about soy sauce. Ready to take my job yet? 🤔
