Raffaele Mastrorocco@raffaelemstr.bsky.social · 3mo agoThe debate over the "demise of multilateralism" often treats these flexible coalitions as evidence that international order is unravelling. @stephofmann.bsky.social @anaprokhorov.bsky.social and I did some archival digging and found that AHCs have always been part of the global governance toolkit.

Happy to have contributed a piece on the far right to the anniversary report of the Karlspreis. The impact of the far right does not only depend on seats or government participation. Their success erodes support for international collaboration because other parties accommodate and legitimize them.

We document both encouragement and deterrence effects and show that IO’s responses influence whether encouragement or deterrence dominates. 8/20
