Why do Rhode Islanders need more homes? 'Who can help when an aging mother needs groceries or a father can no longer drive. Who raises children near their cousins and grandparents. Who gets to say, decades later, "I grew up here," and still mean here.’ Read in full here: buff.ly/EXPMUyD?
What if the next place you call home used to be a mall, a church, or a bank? At a screening of Secret Mall Apartment, we heard directly from artist Michael Townsend, who shared the story behind his secret apartment inside Providence Place mall. @growsmartri.bsky.social.

Focusing on the high cost of affordable housing risks overlooking a more important reality: the biggest challenge is not affordable housing itself, it is the layers of state and municipal regulation that get in the way of building the homes all Rhode Islanders need. buff.ly/3KEt38W
Congrats to our colleagues at @epi-ri.bsky.social on their important work tracking how the rising costs of living are affecting RIers. Great to see @magaziner.house.gov @whitehouse.senate.gov @reed.senate.gov @gabeamo.bsky.social engaged in this important data.
Every Rhode Islander deserves a fair shot at getting ahead. It was great to join the Economic Progress Institute at their annual policy conference to discuss how we can support the middle class and help more working people join it.

Housing work is deeply local, but we’re not in it alone. At the WNNORI gathering, we had the chance to listen to people from across the country, from different backgrounds and perspectives, who are all working toward the same fundamental goal. A safe, stable home for our all of our neighbors.
This workshop was invaluable. I enjoyed attending and meeting all of the fine folks here.
Some insights from our workshop with Ivy Vann — we are getting so excited for our next one with @strongtowns.org! More info here: www.eventbrite.com/e/why-your-t...
