Rolling into 47 feeling like I'm lucky to be here, lucky to WANT to be here, and ready to turn the second act of my life into a new story I can be proud of. And thankful to have such goddamn great hair still. Even if my head is one size too big for my body.

Wherein I admit I don't really fucking care about the #Browns these days. thegeofflatulippe.substack.com/p/i-mean-wha...
In one week, #Browns fans giddyup for another bullshit season of Fuck You, I Guess football! In 2009 I wrote for ESPN(dot)com's Page 2 about what that was like. It was bad then. It's unthinkable now. Check it out. My reaction to it drops next Friday. thegeofflatulippe.substack.com/p/the-hard-l...
Today for Short Fiction Week, I thought I'd try something different. I found a list of story prompts, flicked to scroll the screen, and landed my finger on a concept, blind. Thought it'd be a fun experiment. I fucked myself. Fucked myself so hard.
Day two of Big Geoff's Big Week of Short Fiction. Pretend it's Xmas! thegeofflatulippe.substack.com/p/a-semiauto...

There’s a four-inch thick blanket of hospital-white snow on the ground, and I wonder if its puffy composition is absorbing all the sound I’m making.

Like I said, I needed to write about something other than life. And I like I said, that's going to come in the form of a piece of short fiction each day this week. For your Monday pleasure, may I proudly present: YARD SARD. thegeofflatulippe.substack.com/p/yard-sard?...

You may have seen this RT over the last few days. If youve read it, thank you, and the support I've gotten...it's been incomprehensibly meaningful. What I wasn't ready to say out loud then is in there. But I need to say it out loud now. Two weeks ago, I tried to end my life.

Recently, I've wanted to write a piece about the only bit of screenwriting advice I think matters. I've also dreaded writing a piece about my struggles with mental illness, brain damage and cognitive decline. Somehow they ended up together in one piece. open.substack.com/pub/thegeoff...

Thank you guys so much for all your support on this one. Means a lot to me. I'm glad many of you were able to connect with it. Helped me feel a lot less alone :)

Right around 10AM PDT today, I'm publishing a new article on my Substack. And I'm so fucking terrified that I can't sit still. It's the most personal thing I've ever written, and it's the hardest time I've ever had writing something. It's very long. It's also...very strange.
Thanks so much to those of you who sent messages about our Little Script That Never Was. I'm pleasantly surprised how much some of you seemed to dig it, or at least the first act of it. It was the first action-heavy script I ever wrote, so some parts are...rougher.
I once adapted a script I'm very proud of - my favorite script, I think - with a bunch of talented people, and it was the most fun I've ever had writing, and that script...went absolutely nowhere. Here's that story - and the first act for you to read :) open.substack.com/pub/thegeoff...
I hope you dig the sneak peak, and if you're an aspiring writing, I hope you get a valuable glimpse into what it's like to pour your soul into something, and have it just not work out. It happens. A lot. As always, RTs/signal boosts help a ton, and consider subscribing!

AND NOW FOR A SCRIPT THAT NEVER WENT ANYWHERE
Ever wondered what it looks like when you pour years of work into a script you love like hell but it never quite sees the light of day? Well, take a gander, why don't you!

Way back yonderyears, I had a website where I wrote about anything and everything I damn well felt like. Today I'm missing my family quite a bit, and as such, I thought I'd republish this story from that site about my Marm, a neat lady I love a whole lot. open.substack.com/pub/thegeoff...

MY WORST DAY AS A SCREENWRITER, AN ARTIST, AND ANYTHING RESEMBLING A CREATIVELY FUNCTIONAL HUMAN
Parts of my career have been truly charmed. Parts have been Exxon-Valdez-level disasters. But this one particular performance almost ripped open the fabric of the Universe solely to erase me.

Guys when I introduce myself to someone now do I have to say, "Hello, my name is Geoff, and I'm a man voter." Because I feel like that sounds less like I'm a male who votes and more like I'm an asshole who only votes for dudes.

Just a note, and not a cudgel: my first premium post goes up next week. It's a tale many of you have heard and loved and cringed through, but I figured it's time to put it in front of a global audience: My Kate Beckinsale Story. (It's a great one. She is wonderful.)
Hi guys. I suppose I'm one of THOSE people now. One of those SUBSTACK people. I know, right? I have no clue what that means either. What I do know is: this was hard for me to write, and I mostly spent all my time not doing so. Until I did. I had to. open.substack.com/pub/thegeoffla…

Today is Elvis’s birthday, so it is one of the days my Velvet Elvis gets elevated to the living room mantle. For the story of this family tradition and a generous gift from @geofflatulippe.bsky.social, read the quoted thread.
Back when I was a kid, my dad got a friend of his a Velvet Elvis as a gag gift, paying the sum of $4 for it. Within a year, that friend returned the favor, though he had to overpay… a cost of $7. We displayed it every year on Elvis’s BD and the anniversary of his death 1/
There are people on the other app who think themselves experts in box office, budgets and production just because they have learned a narrow aspect of it to win arguments about superhero films and I cannot tell you how important it is to clown on all of them
OK so this is apparently where the writers are. I'm here for the interaction. Hit me up if you think there might be something I can do to help you with YOUR writing based on my 21 years or working in this industry, during which I've learned nothing.
