Day 6. Not going to lie — this is hard (especially after I scored a few runs in cricket yesterday 😊🏏). Every KM ran is to call for radical change on our roads and support the charity Brake. So many lives are lost to preventable danger. We can do better. Below are some issues to target: #RoadSafety

Some drivers feel untouchable - soundproofed, tech-laden, insulated from the world outside. That isolation breeds complacency, while pedestrians and cyclists feel the danger every time these vehicles fly past. Drivers need to put safety before convenience and time saved.

In 2025, Northamptonshire Police seized 2,540 uninsured vehicles, and disposed of 1,256. Driving uninsured signals risk-taking & links to wider criminality—posing real danger & undermining safe travel. This enforcement tackles their criminality and risk but also serves law abiding insurance payers.

Use of dangerous driving as a weapon against passengers is something that needs to be better recognised. In domestic abuse cases, and also anywhere else that someone is threatened in such a manner. It couldn't be more clear who is in control, and who is being controlled. It's about public safety.

“Exceptional hardship” is granted (for proven habitual road crime offenders) in around 1 in 5 cases—yet the definition of exceptional is “rare and extraordinary”. In the UK, 5 people will die today in a road collision. We should prioritise safe travel, not leniency for repeat offenders.
