You probably know me for starting RSS 2.0 and podcasting.

that's a great idea for democratic fundraising. donate $1K to our Demolish The Ballroom PAC to guarantee a front row seat at the demolition event. for $10K you get an official sledgehammer and you get one swing at the ballroom.

the above quote is from the Reddit/RSS actual announcement. can't the same bots scrape the html text? or does their paywall prevent them from doing that assuming they have one. also reading a feed isn't exactly scraping.

Reddit: "Because RSS is now a common surface for large-scale scraping and automated abuse, we'll stop supporting RSS feeds on November 13, 2026 while preserving moderation workflows that depend on it through supported alternatives." www.reddit.com

Every source in the Signal 500 as standard OPML, free to import into any RSS reader. People are starting to do what I've been asking them to do. Publishing dynamic OPML lists, that smart apps can subscribe to. Once this catches on, it'll be a juggernaut, imho.

The Signal 500 as OPML: import the whole catalogue into any RSS reader

Download the Signal 500 as standard OPML: the full 500-feed pack or one of thirteen pillar packs, free to import into any RSS reader. Also served at /.well-known/recommendations.opml.

It's been a long time since I've seen a big tech company use developers well to do what only developers can do. And it's very rare. Most big tech companies resent developers, but find their stories help build interest. Net-net they try to crush developers, and usually that works.

This is horrific. Shame on Connecticut and any other state that does this to people. "But now Billy was dead, and the state of Connecticut said he owed $232,733 for room and board during his earlier prison stay. Selling the house where DeSenti now lived alone would help satisfy that debt."

They served their time in prison. Then the bills arrived.

Hundreds of CT residents have had money seized through a law that allows the state to charge a fee for every day a person spends in prison.

I’m so tired of people trying to be rock stars. It’s just not the way people live and it’s boring especially when it’s people that really don’t have a whole lot of personality. Trying too hard.

I fully agree about bringing atproto into bsky. There's longform/standard.site content, but also repos, photos, events, games, puzzmos, scrobbles, etc popping up on the protocol. Do you think the main feed is the best place to surface all that?
