communities are coming to Bluesky this year. today, Bluesky is one big space. communities will be smaller spaces inside that where you can go deeper and hang out with people who care about the same stuff.

Thread. I've found Bluesky engaging, fun and *alive* since the first day I got here, in part because I went out of my way to engage with it, not just expect some algorithm to platform what I do. Also because, fundamentally, I'm here to be social, not just to market, and that has a long-term effect.
Greg Pak@gregpak.net · 3mo agoWorth noting that most of the people who say Bluesky is dead or useless are journalists, not organizers. Bluesky has been OUTSTANDING for me as an organizer. I've raised THOUSANDS of dollars here, gotten HUNDREDS of people to actual events, gotten LOADS of people to DO POLITICAL THINGS.

v1.121 is live! We've increased the quality of photos in posts by doubling the max file size to 2MB and the resolution limit to 4000x4000. Plus, posts with multiple photos now appear in a carousel so you can show off your photography in all its glory.
I recognize that @attie.ai is tremendously unpopular among some here, but I wanted to talk a little about how I've used it in a way that gives me way more control over my own social experience... Open to constructive discussion on it. Not really open to pure vitriol.
