The NYT 100 Best Shows of the 21st century is the perfect opportunity for me to once again share my unbending belief that whoever made the decision to cast Liza Minnelli as Lucille 2 on Arrested Development should be given the Medal of Freedom.

this is a fine piece but i think it's missing a crucial ingredient, and yeah it's a cliché for a millennial to say this on bluesky but whatever: GENDER, and the connection between empire and fetishized depictions of supposedly distinctly masculine virtues.

I'm actually not over this, b/c a) imagine you're having an argument with your nephew over his possibly having left the family faith and you can't respond to this letter until you think up a perfect rhyme scheme. b) is this just...a them thing? Or is everyone getting a limerick in the mail

fighting for my life because this epistolary debate on Quakerism vs. Methodism in the 1780s is incredible but I'm undercaffeinated and every single letter is written as a rhyme
