I can’t believe Iran saying they think they’ve got Oman on board with their plan to thwart US war aims is being treated as successful peace talks or an American accomplishment, even a little. That is crazy-making to me.

This is why electing a Black president was such an inflection point. It was the exact opposite of post-racial politics: it was politics where status took on new salience because it became pellucid to cis, straight, white, male Christians that they wouldn't *always* be at the top of the hierarchy.

As women, people of color, LGBTQ+ people, and others made status gains, it provoked a reaction, which then made these questions, which had always been foundational to our politics, salient.

May I suggest that part of what is going on here is that the question of who "should" have it stuck to them was sufficiently uncontested that it didn't present itself as a salient part of our politics.

This is such an great feature (Rebecca is great!), and I've been thinking about it for a few days. IMO, "Influencer" in the ten-years-ago sense was really a LOT of jobs (spokesmodel/copywriter/etc.) but now it's morphing, at least in part, into "intentionally annoying person" which feels worse.

No I think you characterized it fairly, it's a profoundly weird piece that seems to be an inflated response to a single Megyn Kelly tweet. I just found the grandiose comparisons absurd, and pretty distasteful.

You wouldn't know it from the framing here but this article is actually a defense of Caitlin Clark against those who call her a "coward" for not wanting to support her anti-trans colleague.

Really encouraging results thus far in Kansas. With about 1/5 of the vote in, Kansas voters are rejecting the Republicans' attempt to change the way State Supreme Court Justices are selected by a 40+ point margin.

Voters in Kansas saw through a blatant political power grab and sent a message — our courts are not for sale.
