Walking back from town (Cupar) this morning I was thrilled to watch this Otter feeding voraciously on the River Eden in Haugh Park. Hopefully it was catching all the Signal Crayfish which are sadly present. Also, a couple of photos from July showing European Eel and Brown Trout on the same stretch.

It’s a beautiful place. But it’s also a drained, scoured, denatured place with snares and gunmen who kill everything that might interfere with a blood sport. What should protect us from floods in winter and drought in summer is kept in a state of ecological servitude. This must change.

A brilliant control Sedge Warbler from this morning! This bird was ringed at 05:50hrs yesterday morning at Lychett Bay in Dorset, it was then caught in our first round this morning at around 05:30am! It had travelled 213km within 24hrs. #kentbirding

Absolutely delighted to finally see a Sooty Tern in the UK. Just as I got my scope on the bird it flew and spent a while fishing to the south of Coquet Island, Northumberland, before returning to its favourite spot on the island. #ukbirding
