This was an absolutely insanely good day, well done @hwitts.bsky.social on another epic find!
Very exciting to kick this up at Colne Point, Essex on Saturday, just moments after remarking how I didn’t think I’d recognise a grasshopper new to Britain. Sphingonotus caerulans, the second British, and likely first natural record. Found with @graemelyons.bsky.social and @josscarr.bsky.social
Also, some better photos of the Verge Cricket Eumodicogryllus bordigalensis caught last night by Nigel Jones and Mark Edgeller whilst they were moth-trapping at Freshwater Bay
A Verge Cricket heard at Lydd-on-sea for a few hours on Saturday night (and into early hours of Sunday) couldn't be relocated last night. Seemingly a second for Britain? The more regular orthoptera put on a good show over the weekend with Tree Cricket, Large Conehead, Sickle-bearing all seen.

Good to see my first Radford's Flame Shoulder Ochropleura leucogaster. @graemelyons.bsky.social I see what you mean calling it a 'stretch limousine' version of the Flame Shoulder Ochropleura plecta. Modbury, Devon
Here's the full story of what we believe to be the start of the colonisation of yet another new orthopteran to the British Isles.

Why are @brighton-hove.gov.uk doing work on elms on a warm sunny day with temps expected of 17 degrees in the middle of the bird breeding season?! The rest of the week will have temps of 18 to 19 degrees. Scolytus scolytus could well be flying then, so this cutting could be SPREADING ELM DISEASE.
