I had not some across this before, but if you want an example Nathan Cofnas’ scholarship, this is a doozy. Again I say, being sacked is not the problem; being recruited in the first place is what deserves scrutiny.

The news of Dr Jason Arday’s death is devastating. The sensationalised publication of his story, the alleged plagiarism and lies, and the subsequent public flogging of an academic for (checks notes) potentially not being as academically credible as his CV purported he was

I keep reading very passionate pieces critical of the new Odyssey film, scathing the film for treating Greek mythology as a crude mineral prime for greedy exploitation. But each piece has framed their argument exclusively around Helen, often repeating throughout their posts "Helen was Greek".

Update: I decided to forgo the wedding dress tradition and instead decided to buy a non-white, non-wedding dress that would suitably match a sword. I live once. If I get to one day to dress up as a dragon slayer from medieval literature, it's my wedding day.

Wedding dress shopping in the age of AI is basically impossible. All the second-hand websites and filled with AI images, and don't get me started on Etsy

As a huge fan of her work, I find this rather disappointing. Knowing that she used AI for her last novel (and will likely use AI for her future short stories), I won't bother buying or reading her upcoming work. Now I wonder how much of the books I've loved of hers was even her imagination at all

With disgust I learned Olga Tokarczuk uses AI to help with writing her latest novel - article in Polish, my translation of relevant bit in posts below mycompanypolska.pl/artykul/olga...

I feel like I got dealt the really shitty neurodivergent card whenever I have to acknowledge I'm neurodivergent. No, I'm not super knowledgeable about a subject. No, I can't hyper focus. No, I never forget to eat. No, I really struggle to read (dyslexia). No, I don't have a special interest...

My friend took me to see Florence + the Machine a few weeks ago & from the moment that concert ended, I've had horrific mental health stuff & bad luck. After 3 days, I joked that I may have been cursed at that concert. After weeks of it getting even worse, a curse the only sensible explanation.

I always find myself in awe of the confidence & accomplishments of many people a decade younger than me. Then, when I look them up, 80% of the time, they come from mind-blowing privileged backgrounds (one I just looked up went to a 60K pa school) Money isn't everything but DAMN, it must help

Interaction from my bookselling days at a bookshop which offers alumni discount for select unis Him: Do you accept alumni discount up here? Me: We do Him: Which alumni card should I give you? My Oxford alumni card, or my Cambridge alumni card? Me: Whichever one gives you the tingly feeling you want

After three days of looking extensively, I've had to come to the conclusion that I someone accidentally recycled my slipper in the waste-paper recycling box. How I didn't notice that it came off my foot as I stomped down the paper, nor notice I was one-shoed for the rest of the day, I have no idea

I thought it would be fun at the gym this morning to put on some boxing gloves from the selection and have a go at the punch bag. NEVER put your hands in communal boxing gloves. My hand stank even after three washes.
