I had to code and pronounce a time of death on a respiratory therapist colleague. There's a memorial plaque for her outside the emergency department to this day. I wrote and re-wrote my will. I will never forgive these ghouls trying to rewrite history and deny our experience.

There is no version of yourself you could become that would satisfy the people who hate you. So you might as well be who you are.

It seems relevant that the thing Isaiah is being sent to do in that passage is to deliver a prophecy of doom to his own people for having fallen away from the path of righteousness. So if these guys were like, Isaiah, that would be robustly bad news for...the United States.

Anyway, the problem is the agenda-setting function. Mass media are much less effective at telling audiences what to think than they are at telling audiences what to think *about*. Even if a writer ridicules the latest right-wing freakout, they're still talking about the latest right-wing freakout.

It would help a lot if a lot of journalists and pundits weren't using Twitter as their assignment editor, several years into its transition into Stormfront.
