Has anyone invoked Clarke’s Law yet as a touchpoint for this whole “Is AI conscious now?” thing? Okay, I’m invoking it

So the Orange Dude’s strategy du jour for saving the midterms is to try to make us think diesel prices are high because of the Ukrainian government? Do I have that right?
8 time Texas HS football state champion coach knows what’s at stake this November.
These folks are worth watching. H/t @stephen.fosketts.net
Today we're announcing our $445M Series D and announcing that we've reached profitability. Huge thanks to Eclipse for leading the round, which included participation from existing investors USIT, Jane Street, Riot Ventures, Intel Capital, Friends and Family Capital, and Counterpart Ventures.
My 2023 take that AI improves quality and dependability is holding up well. I’ve never thought it was productivity. I’m not saying that we’re seeing quality and dependability improvements _yet,_ however. I am saying that we will turn to those goals as the productivity attempts keep failing
Harvard researchers studied 718 companies and found AI coding agents increased lines of code by 30%, but no major increase in completed tasks or projects. Meanwhile, review time rose 49%. Generating code faster hasn’t translated into completing more work. The bottleneck has moved to code reviews.
In 1984 Winston Smith had to be starved, tortured and eaten by rats to finally concede 2 + 2 = 5. In 2026 there are people who believe any old shite because someone who looks like them said it on Instagram lol
Don’t wait. Double-check your voter registration status TODAY and make sure you are vote ready. We can’t afford to sit out this election. We need every single one of you voting, from the TOP to the BOTTOM of the ticket. The vote is yours. The power is yours. You decide what happens next in Texas.
It might seem like a minor issue but it’s pervasive, pernicious, and cloaked in righteousness
Dudes, fucking stop it. AT LEAST STFU if you can’t take action
A man replied to this saying in earnest that women need to get organized and fight for our rights and men will follow. We did that. We do that. We mobilized the largest single day protest in global history on every continent and yet I have fewer rights than my mom did at my age.
Cogent, very rational summary of what I’ve been trying to tell my fellow tech people for years: The ultimate benefactor of all of these products and technologies is people, and ultimately people determine tech’s fate
What I don't get about the "AI as jobless future" scenario is where the money comes from. Gates says tax the companies for using the AI agents, but if no humans are working, who is paying the companies for the AI services they're providing so the companies can pay taxes?
To violate the accountability to the people of Texas they swore before God to uphold, Governor Abbott and his minions simply stop telling anyone what they know about women getting sick and dying
We stood together to demand the release of Texas’ delayed maternal mortality report. Nearly 4 out of 5 pregnancy-related deaths are preventable, and Black women continue to face the highest rates. We need this report to understand why women are dying and build legislation that saves lives.
Cloud-native isn’t (or shouldn’t be) a belief system but it feels like it is sometimes. It says that there’s a canonical modern application stack we're all supposed to build toward, and everything else is legacy or wrong
I'm proud to announce that we secured $351 million for flood prevention in The Bronx and Queens in the Water Resources Development Act. This funding will go directly toward projects that will protect our community from flash floods. qns.com/2026/09/aoc-...

I can think of another pretty big one.
“Largest theft of labor in human history.” What a quote.
When it comes to AI regulations, I think the EU has the right idea with the AI Act. The focus should be on harmful uses of AI (job descrimination, healthcare decisions, etc) versus hypotheticals about how AI shouldn’t get so powerful it can hack the internet or isn’t aligned with certain politics.
Really important point. Your big star whose artistry you love has many factors driving their decisions besides their feels and pique
Not to defend Ed Sheeran but when you see is an exercise of monopoly over a communication media (concerts) by state-sanctioned oligarchs (how many subsidies have been given to Robert Kraft?), Ed Sheeran is not the problem.

Last year's loss to Ohio State haunted Manning for a year. Now he's the owner of a signature comeback. What could come next?

I seriously don't understand why net zero is up for debate. What wanker thinks there should be more greenhouse gases lol
Yes. If you want an example of actual real mainstream media bias, this is it. Like the Times with AOC, these reporters and editors pedantically cast smart actions as corrupt and straightforward words as moronic mumbling 1/2
By this measure, you could say the Trump administration is “paying” Maggie Haberman, since having access to him “put her in a position” to write a best-selling book.

So you know how there’s a discourse in this place about tech brollionaires living in a fantasy world of their own, validated by sycophants of their choosing, where only they are worthy and should decide everything based on their own amazing thoughts? (👀 @anildash.com) Well. 1/3
NEW: Hakeem Jeffries met with Kushner recently to discuss how democrats could work with the administration when we take the house back. We shouldn’t work with fascists, and I’d appreciate a leader who felt the same. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/23/u...
There’s gotta be some kind of “donut hole” emerging, where today’s younger knowledge workers don’t have the experience to produce good work from AI but eventually better understanding of AI enables better training of new knowledge workers
When I was a college hire at Microsoft, they had a program for all their “high potential” hires where we got to network, meet execs and get coaching. That kind of investment in people seems increasingly rare while the rush to AI has created what can best be described as anti-people initiatives.
