Hi, I’m Josh (he/him) I’m obsessed with #devops, #observability and #databases. I’m a Developer Advocate at Altinity. I run a home lab and I have no idea what’s on any of the assorted thumb drives around my home in Western Massachusetts.
"Observability is broken" is the alternate title for my talk this week at Open Source Observability Day I first wrote these three words on a sticky note at an open spaces (I ❤️ open spaces). At the time, I had a pretty clear idea of the problems but only a vague sense of the solution.
It boggles my mind that actual humans will now take the time to record themselves reading a script that is obviously AI-slop. Please recommend some youtube alternatives... is curiosity stream worth it?
With as much as I travel - and the way that my brain works - it is inevitable that I lose things. On each trip the question isn't "will I lose something?" but "will it be something valuable or important?" So I've developed some coping strategies. Here are my favorites:

When it comes to "where do we run our AI" - we don't need more "internet sandboxes" like the social media platforms of yore, and harnesses are great but cheap and disposable. What should we focus on? Building auditable, durable systems of record with federated JIT access.

“Vibe coding” means too many things. I propose that we use it for code gen by non-programmers, and bring back “pair programming”, now for “agent + developer sharing a console” This is also distinct from automated/agentic codegen.
