It was really nice to meet 3 of my new colleagues at the Institute for English Studies (SAS London) yesterday. Grabbed myself a desk by the window in the IES fellows room. Tempt me not, ice cream van. (Also £3 for a tiny square of millionaires shortbread. London prices eh 😮)

🗣 Public History Talks - Open for Booking! When we think about the drama of Shakespeare and his contemporaries, we often think of purpose-built London playhouses like the Globe. Yet much of the disruptive, political energy of the professional playing companies was forged on the road.

Another article from the forthcoming special issue of "Shakespeare" I'm guest editing on "Shakespeare and Thomas Middleton" is now published!

My article on Winter’s Tale and The Lady’s Tragedy is online! It’s the idea that made it out of the group chat: this article builds on conversations I had @memsunikent.bsky.social about bodies in performance, & in the #WTWatchParty during COVID lockdowns, & now it’s out in the world! #EarlyModern

Today, I had the chance to explore digital techniques for enhancing my research with Stratford's guildhall. There's so much potential for bringing the upper guildhall's theatrical past to life. This is just a crude mock-up, but I've been speaking with artists and VR experts to see what we can do!

Following the overwhelming response I had to my call for contributors to the public history/humanities workshop I'm organising, the funding application has just been sent off! Fingers crossed. Can't wait to (hopefully) have the opportunity to discuss public writing, museums, broadcasting & more 👏

Had a fun discussion today about my work on theatre and Coventry's guildhall with someone from Historic Coventry Trust today. Small world feeling to learn they found me through my previous talk at St. Mary's Guildhall. A second talk from me is coming up in November, don't you know 😉
