There's a super cool compilation out today of Maine bands covering other Maine bands and there's a handful of artists from the label on there. Snake Lips, Gum Parker, Little Oso and Upper Narrows all have very cool covers. Also our pals Million of Energy have a great one too shorturl.at/PYcqu

A novelist I'm married to is good at the meme, it appears. Pre-orders are a huge boost, so if you are interested, repost! and pre-order The Emilys by @heatherabel.bsky.social at a local bookshop, or at www.bookmoonbooks.com, which will send you an artist's map of the book's Western MA locations.

The first time I heard MJ Lenderman I was immediately taken back to the Western Mass music scene of the mid nineties. This cover brings it all full circle.

You know that thing where you are hosting a party and you spend the whole day cleaning and shopping and preparing and then when it's time for the party you are exhausted and just wanna sit on the couch and watch TV? That's kind of what it's like when you release an album.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if everyone in Outro besides Josh had their own band, and then all those other bands played a show together? Well wonder no more. Friday March 20th at Luthier's Co-op in Easthampton... much good music in store. Josh had better show up, is all I'm saying.
Here it is: the weirdest story I've ever reported, with a bonus thread of weird stuff I didn't have room to include. In print Sunday in the Boston Globe. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/02/27/a...
A Northampton band received a cease-and-desist letter about their name. Then things got weird. - The Boston Globe
It’s a tale as old as rock ’n’ roll — bands who unknowingly selected the same name have been bumping up against each other for decades. The internet hasn't exactly made the debacle any easier.

We know the details behind this story, and let me tell you, the insanity described by the able @erdanton.bsky.social goes waaaaay deep.

Memorable evening at the Drake last night. Thanks to the many brave souls who fought back against the chill to be together. Can't say enough good things about sets by Slant of Light and Landowner... go see these bands, people.
It must feel good as fuck to be unable to be completed at this time if you're a request
Happy 2nd birthday to our local scene newsletter - give Eric a follow if you don't already. Featuring Landowner this week, who, have we mentioned, we play with tomorrow at The Drake.

Danton@erdanton.bsky.social · 8mo agoThis week marks the second anniversary of my Freak Scene newsletter, and we cover the upcoming album from Western Mass. minimalist punks Landowner, and the "fake movie" soundtracks of New Haven's Kevin MF King. I have to correct this band account and say that Slant of Light is putting out an LP. Full length. Not an EP. Who does the posts over there?

Good write up of new Landowner single by our man Eric D - Come see them play it live at The Drake on Friday Feb 7. Also Slant of Light celebrates the release of their new EP and we open. Good show? Great show.
