We had a great time having Michael Elbaum from the Weizmann Institute visit our institute (@mpibp.bsky.social)! Had an insightful seminar and a fun time at the Krios doing STEM 🔬 Our Krios is upside down according to material scientists so instead of turning our microscope, we turned ourselves!

Structure of the ribosome-bound SND3 translocon complex from the heat-tolerant fungus Chaetomium thermophilum. The SND3 translocon inserts proteins into the endoplasmic reticulum membrane as they are produced by the ribosome.
