Feeling some FOMO after seeing all the amazing work graduate students members are doing? Want to be eligible for awards at the next meeting? Were you sad because you couldn't attend the CSPB Mixer (or did you promise our Comms Director you would renew / join to get in?). Join today!

New pre-print out led by postdoc Dr Sarah Lane. Really proud of this work which allows for simultaneous metabolomics and phytohormone quantification in soils to expand our understanding of soil-plant interactions at ecological and agricultural scales through the power of analytical chemistry!

A flow chart summarizing the main steps of the method: extraction, concentration, filtration, analysis, targeted quantification and untargeted metabolomics, with a bar chart of specific phytohormones and a heat map of annotated mass features as the final output.

The fact that Americans thought Auxin was a “Hoax from Europe” rightfully got some attention in my latest #PlantScienceClassics post. But it’s actually even funnier if you learn about the context & consequence of White speaking these words to Went at the AAAS Meeting in Pittsburgh. #PlantScience 🧪 🧵

Marc Somssich@somssich.bsky.social · 6mo ago

When Frits Went once failed to demonstrate the effect of auxin at an AAAS meeting, it was White who loudly declared “that the auxin business was obviously a hoax and that it was high time that these charlatans from Europe were sent back to where they belonged”. An experience that shook Went.

Great introduction to Quebec at the #SEQ2025 meeting at Laval today where Sophia & Emily presented the work the lab has been doing on leafhopper monitoring in blueberries & strawberries! Thanks @edelplopez.bsky.social for being such amazing hosts & collaborators!

End of a great week at CSHS/CSA Joint Meeting this week. Presented an update on our cranberry warming studies, BERRI NSERC USRA student Emily & PhD Candidate Dan won poster presentation awards and caught up with old and new friends!

Congrats to Emily Foster for receiving an NSERC USRA to support her work on the LeafHope m & Environmental Resilience work at BERRI this summer. Emily started last Fall as a work study student on our cranberry warming project & we are so happy to keep her around this summer! #BERRI #USRA
