#OTD 80 years ago, Traian Popovici died, aged 53. The lawyer served as mayor of Cernăuți from August to December 1941. During that time he argued against deporting the Jewish population to Transnistria, saving thousands of lives. He was made a Righteous Among the Nations in 1969.
