Not getting all the "items due back" notifications from Halifax Public Libraries I should be. Check your items! I've had a book for a while but hadn't gotten a notification so thought it must be fine. It's 11 days overdue 😬

Halifax paid parking Saturday, week 2! Average occupied spaces in zones B/C/H during paid hours: Jul 18: 204 / 67 / 92 Jul 25: 241 / 95 / 126 Jul 25 was +18%, +43%, +36% vs prev Saturday, and 89%, 99%, 123% of preceding Mon-Fri.

Nice that knotweed and such were trimmed along the older part of the Barrington greenway, keeping it from going beyond the fence and into the path. But some tree branches that required ducking were missed. Fixed! Also did some trimming touchups on the #BikeHfx Devonshire lanes, especially NB

Halifax's first paid parking Saturday was yesterday and my scraped availability map data shows it. Zone B's average usage for Saturday was 57% of last Mon-Fri, C was 56%, and H was 81%. Will be interesting to see how that evolves!

@kwilsonhfx.bsky.social in your bike lane/etc costing stuff have you come across anything that indicates spending a bit more for upfront better cycling infra saves on recap cost over the long term? Thinking about less asphalt to repave and such.

A pretty funny inside baseball HRM Council clip. Consider who Councillor Austin might be looking at with Deputy Mayor Cuttell acting as chair of the meeting.

Glorious #BikeHfx ride to Birdies for their weekly special (Gochujang!!!). Made it from the North End to there and back in under an hour during “rush hour.”

The Halifax waterfront seen from the Dartmouth Harbourfront trail. Blue shy with some clouds and lots of green closer. Two ferries are in the harbour.

I am just realizing there’s no Hydrostone stage for Halifax Jazz Festival this year. Bummer, always seemed like a big draw. Can’t help but wonder if it’s a victim of provincial/city budget cuts.

What’s your Halifax street with the most wasted potential? Mine is Agricola. Such a shame it has so much going on but it’s ultimately an unpleasant car sewer. Should be closed to vehicles for some/most of the year.

Did a little Devonshire #BikeHfx trimming this morning, phew. Should be possible to ride up and down without hitting one’s head or having to avoid too much. Knotweed before and after:

Just about every day I do a ~12 km #BikeHfx ride around the peninsula. Usually I leave a touch after 9. I've noticed recently how consistent it is, taking right around 45 minutes. Regardless of car clogs I see. Had to leave a bit earlier today. Saw more car clogs. Took me 42 minutes get around.

A few days ago I tweaked my Halifax Bird (scooter/ebike) out-of-bounds parking map to try and deduce if a vehicle has stayed in the same place, and for how long Saw this example today and found it on the map! It's been there at least 2 days, 9 hours
