matthewsag.com/doj-enters-t... So, this just happened. On September 1, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a statement of interest in the sprawling OpenAI copyright litigation, In re OpenAI, Inc., Copyright Infringement Litigation, and mostly got it right.

Tonight I learned, thanks to @matthewsag.bsky.social textbook on copyright & AI, that the Register of Copyright for the US was also removed in 2025 after Carla Hayden. She sued, and all that is still pending resolution with some bigger stakes in the mix.
