I managed to fix my old-ish desktop (had to put in a new CPU cooler, it was very tricky), and now I'm downloading the #Omarchy ISO.

So what's wrong with "gate keeping" as a concept?
While we were laying concrete on the weekend at my brother's place, a fox came by and decided to keep us company for over 15 minutes. A nice fox with clever, kind eyes and a happy face. S/He seemed to be very interested in the art of construction. A teachable moment.
Today's 29 August, in 48 hours the destiny of Amélie Poulain will take a different turn.
The public playtest of my new game: Bane of Antagon is getting ever closer. This is the current version of the main menu (I've redesigned it about 47 times, so this might not be the final version). It's a turn-based heroic fantasy hex crawl with a dice-poker-like combat system. #gamedev
I was curious what happens if I name my character as some other prominent character in a crpg like Shadowrun: Hong Kong. A parallel dimension opens, in which people can have the same name and nobody blinks an eye. :) #wastingtimeforscience
I disabled the item identification system in Brogue CE (github.com/tmewett/Brog...), so everything starts fully identified. Still loving the game, and still dying constantly. Next I should remove the inventory limit somehow. #gamedev #roguelike

As I'm rewatching The Two Towers for the Nth time, I often need to stop and take a moment. Similarities with the early Rohan scenes are haunting.
I love Godot’s GDScript. Thoughts 🧵👇🏼 Rift Riff and Hidden Folks 2 use it. Most professional game devs making games in Godot I know love it - often after trying C# thinking it would ease the transition from Unity. Instead, they love the ease and speed of GDScript more than their habits from C#.
Oh, the climate change! Also: buy my plushie and come to my convention, but be sure to only use bio paper straws. Clown world.
Received my first personalized spam. 1st sentence: they liked my freeware game that I published in 2017 to Steam. The rest is usual spam content: I get a coupon to buy a "screen-free" digital camera. Wtf? I get the usual "buy my crap" part, but the spammer did recognize my email.
I accidentally bought COTTON-CANDY-FLAVORED grapes. I had no idea these abominations existed. #woeIsMe
I dreamt I discovered some sneaky bug in my new game, but after waking I can't remember what it was, yet the certainty still lingers. Now I have this Schrödinger mix of being suspicious, doomed and ridiculous. #gamedev
TIL: GDScript now has `RegEx.create_from_string` So it's as easy as `RegEx.create_from_string("(\\d+)d(\\d+)")`
Received an email from someone, offering pt_BR translation for Dragon Riddler. A word game, specifically designed for the English language. And I'm allowed to "opt out" if I'm not interested. Do they really expect I'd want to work with someone who starts with lies and blackmail?
I'm experimenting with a custom #GodotEngine plugin that lets me assign monsters to terrain types more easily in Bane of Antagon. The whole thing is dynamic, and was easy to implement. I'm about to add a bunch of new monsters now. #gamedev
I can't remember the last time I downloaded any of the free game offerings from Epic Game Store. The sheer amount of garbage there is astounding, and I don't care if it's free: it has no value, so I'm not taking it.
This is what I've been grumbling about for a while now. Steam updates are broken, and they're a huge security vulnerability: www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/co... #gamedev

Although I'm 100% focusing on Bane of Antagon, I haven't completely given up on Dragon Riddler. And when I have time to work on my 3rd project in the making, Fragnarök, this is the music that inspires it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=08Jf... #gamedev

I've been happy with my #LinuxMint install, and thought my distrohopping days were long gone, but lately I've been eyeing #Fedora with KDE.. 👀 Might actually switch! Luckily I have my /home on separate partition, makes switching easier. #Linux

After a couple hours of tinkering and implementing N:M relation handling with a custom Godot addon, I realized I had reinvented the file system with symlinks. Ladies and germs: work smart, not hard like I do! #gamedev
Found this #GodotEditor addon, which works (after incorporating the 2 ignored PRs) in more recent versions. github.com/Datoh/godot-... Again, I really wish global addons were a thing in Godot, as editor plugins shouldn't be forced to exist in my project files. Alas!

1/7 I'm a solo developer working on a turn-based hex crawl inspired by board games but designed specifically for PC. One of the biggest challenges has been finding the right travel system.
1/2 Just had this idea for my new game, Bane of Antagon: when you play a barbarian and his Bear Strength amulet is active, and the barbarian kills a foe, the excess damage heals him: the were-bear feasts on the carcass. A rare edge case, but thematic.
