Sometimes a novel becomes a series, a detour is better than the original plot, or a side character pulls focus. How did it change for you?

The largest change for Shroud of the Familiar was the antagonist. What began as a demon character I developed on a forgotten DeviantART blog from the 2000's developed into something very different as the story became more and more character-focused. I look forward to showing everyone, soon! ❄️

I think every book I've done wasn't originally supposed to be a book, I just didn't stop hyperfocusing until, whoops, there's a book now. But then, the maps not the territory. The actual story, that really exists counts for everything, the planned story that doesn't exist is nothing.
