tangentially it kills me seeing new indie animation pitches try and bust out the amazing sakuga in the pilot😭 like no shit you arent finishing you animation PITCH PILOT in a year when you are focused on animating on 1s we gotta go back to limited animation for the sake of our own sanity
there is a funny as hell love for old traditional animation details, like the xerox effect of scans but I find it funny as hell and a little sad people run to recreate the final look of old school animation, all digitally. xerox looks that way due to a copy of a copy, not a single digital brush
If smartphone manufacturers are truly out of ideas for ways to sell future devices, they could try adding actually audible vibration motors. Maybe being able to hear your phone without disturbing everyone around you ruins the sleekness of their devices? Too bad, do it anyway.

The “better” generative AI gets, the clearer its shortcomings become. Every piece of AI “art” has the same gloss. Every AI flyer has the same aesthetic. They’re the homogenized average of all AI’s ripped and anyone can tell now - and avoid your business. “When everyone’s super, no one will be.”
It's telling (in a good way) that human attempts at recreating AI generated "styles" still look better than the real deal.
Your bad art is better than AI slop.
I had to stop talking current events because it's all so multi-faceted that it may as well not be real to many people not directly affected. Obviously that's the point. My only "in" has been tech news since the effects are more widespread, and the industry is a big source of a lot of our problems.
“I stopped talking to my therapist. I felt like I was ranting like a lunatic and he was listening politely and asking me, ‘Is the bad man in the room with you right now?’” On how 21st century fascists make you sound crazy: badfaithtimes.com/they-make-yo...
Something like this would have been a life-saver back when I had my first laptop and the AC adapter broke. Instead my only options were questionable third-party adapters with swappable tips, none of which would ever be fully compatible and were probably a fire hazard anyway.
Today I'm toying with... the Werewolf VFLEX! It's a tiny programmable dongle that brings USB-C power to gadgets with barrel jacks. When you combine it with USB-C batteries, wall-wart gadgets become portable fast!

Publishers eschewing physical in favor of digital is about cutting their costs and offloading them onto the consumer. Take a look at how most AAA games are over 100GB in size, pair that up with rising SSD costs, and it's clear: It's not the pub's problem anymore, it's yours.
This needs to be a bigger story. Google Docs is no longer safe for copyrighted material. Any writer on contract needs to stop using it *immediately*.

If Monster Energy does one of these, someone has to ask them if they're ever gonna bring Ultra Citron back. That'll make it every big company minus one.
Google's move to AI means traditional SEO doesn't work anymore so every big company is now desperately doing Reddit AMAs to try and get their responses ingested by the Gemini slop machine and farted out in AI summaries
I can tell you at first glance that this is either rock solid, or falls apart if you look at it wrong. It's probably also wholly unmaintainable yet will run on anything and is the reason Microsoft has to prioritize Windows back-compat. There's probably also an Access database somewhere in there.

Had to pay some pretty hefty auto repair fees so I’m gonna be opening commissions. Only gonna open 2 slots, but may open more if the need arises.
Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

Anyway I'm pretty sure the recent AI generated images of political commentary paired with cartoon characters (especially Peanuts) is a psyop. On Facebook, it could be normal posting or even someone you personally know offline. But on here, it's a psyop.
The industry could avoid this by just making new, sustainable double-A quality games, but that doesn't justify incremental hardware improvements extending to the end of time.
