i was working on something else about zero parades (still forthcoming) that had a note that was like 'i don't know what to do with the theme of sexuality here' so when BP reached out i decided to try to close read it by itself. fun exercise! there's a lot happening there!

i finished a year-long novel writing class lately where editing was basically treated as adversarial and it was genuinely the hugest bummer. in the last class i snapped and accidentally gave a huge speech about how i would be fucking nowhere without good editors lol

and that's also why i'm so grateful for the times in my life that i've had an editor highlight a sentence and be like "girl, what?" we all need that shit sometimes. and sometimes MANY sentences need to be highlighted. a good editor is a blessing.

on one hand it's extremely nice to feel like i'm doing my best ever work after completely crashing out and believing i'd forgotten how to write this time last year. on the other hand, this does not give me huge confidence in estimating my own skill
