Because, if there's one thing I've learned during my Gen X lifespan as an American, it's that you cannot trust American voters. There are far too many bigoted, ignorant, brainwashed, unwise, foolish, and functionally unhinged people in this country. They are not to be trusted.

People who have not experienced it are often not aware of just how vicious hiring processes are to the disabled. "When do I tell them about my disability?" is an agonizing tactical conversation my partner and I have had too many times. Hirers will absolutely use it to disqualify people summarily.

Heat intolerance - due to something like MS - can require the use of a very cold beverage to lower core temperature quickly in order to avoid MS symptoms getting worse. Chronic cough, laryngopharyngeal reflux, and vocal fold disorders all can mean needing a beverage to sip on in order to talk

People w diabetes who take insulin/sulfonylureas can have a blood sugar crash, four ounces of juice or soda or a dunkin extra extra is a standard treatment for that. People with IBD - a high-output ileostomy, short bowel syndrome etc - can dehydrate quickly & may need continuous oral hydration

Wild how many people are willing to post their default is disability discrimination. Sjögren's disease destroys salivary glands, so too can lupus, and rheumatoid arthritis, and having had radiation for head or neck cancer. Antidepressants/-psychotics,-histamines, opioids all can cause xerostomia

Today, billionaires yet again bribed, censored, and bullied their way to the top. As a result, a billionaire media company closely allied with the president will soon own one of its closest rivals, including some of the nation’s critical news outlets. Saudi Arabia will co-own those outlets, too.

So part of the problem here is people who don't have direct experience can defend the current leadership of the House Democratic Caucus on this app, based on social media vibes or whatever. And the people with actual first hand knowledge are constrained from speaking.
