“Land Less” — Third-Place Winner of the 2026 Yale Environment 360 Film Contest — follows the activists fighting a bill that would transfer thousands of acres of Alaskan rainforest to five Native corporations, opening the land to logging. Watch the film: bit.ly/4g0zin8
➡️ @tanglenews.bsky.social went to Alaska to learn what’s changed since the state adopted ranked choice voting & open primaries. After years of gridlock, state lawmakers now consistently work together to get things done. Why? The reforms push lawmakers to reach all voters, not just a narrow base.
What's particularly startling about this story is that this is happening in Southern France and the U.K., which are at the same latitude as, respectively Maine and Newfoundland. Imagine, please, what this means for Texas.
Not sure why this isn’t the dominant topic of national conversation rn: “Drought and extreme heat are killing plants, driving up prices while also making some farms economically unviable” www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Too many Alaska Native families have searched for a missing loved one and received silence instead of answers. Today, I released a plan to confront Alaska’s MMIP crisis, strengthen investigations, and make sure families are never left searching for answers alone.

The Trump Regime just wants you dead. They have blown way past death panels, remember them? Nope republicans will just murder you for being sick because it costs money.
This is a long and excellent interview of Tom Begich. If you want to understand why he’s the best person to be governor this lays it out and how Tom is different than JKT and why JKT should be ranked behind Tom Begich.
It can be tough to pick a favorite in a crowded field, so as the primary nears, Alaska Public Media is conducting interviews with some of the top candidates in the race. We’ll hear first from former Anchorage state Sen. Tom Begich, one of two top Democrats competing for votes.
I tried scaring off this trash bear this morning on 2nd Street in Juneau, and so did a lot of other people, but it wouldn’t be deterred. Not a good sign for its future. #Alaska

For the 0-2 followers here who have ever wondered what the ridge traverse segment between The Ramp and Mt. Williwaw is like, here is my trip report from Sat. It is 2.5 km of Class 3/4 gendarmes on top of the ridge for 2 hours, or a 3-hour, side-hilling suffer-fest below the ridge. 0 out of 5 stars.

Ambler has gone 5 months without water and sewer. Fixes could take months.
According to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, about 85 percent of Ambler's main water lines are cracked, unable to hold pressure, and require replacement.
