I teach my IR students that a global power is expected to have stakes and influence worldwide. If absent on a major global issue, this could indicate either a lack of capability or a lack of willingness to act as one. The last part of Trump's tweet could spark an interesting discussion, isn't it?

It was certainly not the best weekend to take a digital detox, but I needed it. Forty-eight hours now feel like a decade. I just wish Al-Assad had fallen 13 years ago, or even earlier... Shame on those who helped him stay in power.
