A Recipe for Chaos

"Dear Yulia, it can't be!"

"Is it—"

"St. Jade? In the flesh?!"

Her gaze falls on her last companion, whose smile's radiance threatens to scorch everything in its way. Chuckling nervously, Mileena pulls away from her sign, watching as Jade greets their other guests. Thankfully, none of Daath's citizens notice how forced his expression is, fortunately enamored by his resemblance to the statue in their plaza.

"Yes!" Mileena calls out to one of the townspeople. "We're having a special promotion today!"

"The most special!" Anise chimes in with the brightest smile.

"The most special," Luke repeats in a more subdued and lower tone.

Still, as Mileena guides the interested party to their seat, she hopes that Jade's mere countenance will be enough to cover for his sinister smile and carry them through the rest of the day.

St. Jade's feast day, that is.

Something brushed against his side. Emil looked to see Tenebrae nudging against his leg, pushing him away from his workstation. "Rest, Lord Emil." As if sensing his hesitation, he pressed on. "You cannot protect Lady Marta as a Knight of Ratatosk should you not take care of yourself."

"Please rest, Emil," Marta murmured, and the second he looked at her soft, tired, yet pleading eyes, Emil's resolve crumbled.

"Okay." He nodded, setting the knife down. Yet, even so, he didn't step away. "But... what are we gonna do about dinner?"

“Are we going to catch crabs? And make crablettes? Royal crablettes?!” Sophie leans so far in towards Richard he’s nearly certain she’s going to fall over.

“Not just any crabs.” Richard insists with a shake of his head. “You see, in investigating how one might make a royal crablette, I came across some curious information from Duke Dalen. It would seem that there is a story about a special crab that lives deep within the waters of Lake Grale. It is said this crab has meat so tender and succulent that past lords have gone to war simply for the chance to taste it. It is called... a king crab.”
