also omg there's gonna be a manga for fortune's weave by the one who drew the engage manga... it looks like the story's gonna be a lot more linear than expected then! quite excited for this and also looking forward to the comic!!

honestly i think i'm crazy for continuing to run fan projects because that sure is a lot of time i could have used to idk. actually draw/write. chill with a book or videogame so it really pains me when some ppl treat zine/event mods as big corp and not a fellow fan just trying to Make Things Happen

"but slip! it's a friend/passion project, i'm okay with waiting for a while 🥹" well, the zine's buyers aren't. they're here to get smth they paid for & again the moment u take someone else's money it's no longer a project that's "for fun" there's a promise to deliver in a reasonable amount of time

on one end, it's useful to know! on another end, i wish the circumstances in which i had to learn said things were a lot better anyway, bonus advice is to be careful when modding with friends or joining projects by friends. it's an easy path to taking 2+ years to complete a project 😭

really good thread. vet your mods please, not just as a contributor but also as a buyer. if you don't see any clear info on the mods or notice some red flags with regard their experience, save yourself the grief and spend your hard-earned money elsewhere

I'm actually going to use this as a jumping-off point for a more general thread on zines. I think a lot of us writers and artists see a zine application as one-way evaluation, where the mods judge our work & decide if we're a fit for the project. But the evaluation needs to go both ways. (1/?)

Anyone putting together a zine: Vet your finance and shipping mods VERY carefully. Back in 2023, Cym/Kroalias signed up to be the finance and shipping mod for dozens of physical zines and then did not ship what people had paid for. The money went missing and much of it has still not been paid back.

extremely late to the fe3h anniversary, but i wanted to have a look at all of the english dimilix zines i own (plus a bonus jp dimifeli antho i had the pleasure of contributing to) and was shocked to note i was involved in 8/12 books in some way 🤯 (mostly as head mod/organizer)
