Don’t get me wrong, I love dogs and have owned several but if any of mine had displayed signs of nervous or unpredictable behaviour I would not take it with me on a school run where it’s going to be surrounded by excitable and unpredictable kids. It’s a recipe for disaster.

I park a little out of town so I can walk into work and get my steps in. Only problem is I have to walk past the most heavenly smelling bakery each day which is proving very hard to resist; so you can see my predicament here…

Looks heavenly, right? Looks can be deceiving. This is the location of my upcoming folk horror novel ‘Lullaby,’ set in a remote lake house on the outskirts of Gävle, Sweden. A mother is plagued with visions of a dead boy, meanwhile the health of her son appears to be fading before her eyes.

The Switchblade Svengali, my crime novel set in 1968, is out now! In character for me, two Great Pyrenees dogs, Thibodeaux and Drucilla, play a part.
