Thinking about Trump’s first-term efforts to tie antifascism, as a concept, to international groups like the PKK, presumably in order to slap US protesters with terror charges currently only applicable re: foreign orgs. In Mahmoud Khalil’s case, a preview of how flagrantly these powers can be abused

UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is. They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there. They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.

NEWS: Last night, the Department of Homeland Security detained a Palestinian who helped lead the Columbia encampment. Agents told him his visa was revoked. He said he had a green card. They were confused—then said that was revoked too. His attorney demanded a warrant. Agents hung up instead.

Bummer for Eoin that his book on reactionary tech billionaires buying up media isn't more timely. If only it were "highly relevant" or "part of an unfolding and constantly worsening nightmare" you'd probably consider it an urgent read and preorder at this link. Oh, well. Too bad.

my mom reminds me that i was a few weeks old the last time i saw the bills in the super bowl. i just threw a 5th birthday party for my oldest kid today. please, i have been so patient

for every NYC congestion pricing opponent who gets quoted in the news, they should have to quote me, a Hudson Valley resident who sometimes drives into Manhattan but wants congestion pricing to be way higher so the MTA can run a 4am Metro-North route, eliminating my need to drive after late events

my preschooler has come up with a great bit: every time we pass this random, spiky-roofed industrial building on the train into Melbourne, Australia, he bellows “the Sydney Opera House!!” in his NY accent. mortifying. no talking him out of it, either

i have 2 very similar-looking sons and thoughtlessly packed them a very uniform rotation of jeans and plain t’s for this trip, and that’s how i’ve ended up with a TSA agent saying “you had the same baby twice” and a friend’s kid imploring my oldest “which one are you?!”
