Calling all babies with moves! 🪩 Next Saturday (Nov 14) from 11am–12pm, our Whittaker branch is turning into a glowing dance party with fun lights, sensory activities, and music made for little dancers. Free!

Nothing beats the moment you get to yell “BINGO!” in a library. 🤭 Seniors, join us at our Whittaker branch this Friday from 3–4:30pm for an afternoon of games, snacks, and (small) prizes. Bring along the grandkids, a neighbor, or whoever loves a good game. Free!

You have crowned A Sticky End by Jessica Herring as this year's Short Horror Contest champion 🐝🐝🐝. Thanks to everyone who submitted a story, voted, or just enjoyed reading all of the eerie submissions!

My grandmother is lying there wide-eyed and unmoving, her body completely covered in the same golden substance...honey. A bloodcurdling scream erupts from my mouth as a massive swarm of bees burst out of her sticky corpse, and head straight for me.

Ypsi, my favourite library of all the libraries I've never physically visited, has been having a micro-fiction horror story competition all month, with different categories. Today they assemble the winners of each week's category for a final determination of best horror story of 2026. VOTE!

This is it, our last category for our Short Horror contest. Which ~My Other Body~ story displaced you the most? We'll tally your votes and reveal the top vote-getter in each category tomorrow for Halloween! Then it'll be up to you to pick the next annual champion.

The intruder came in through my ear like a drain snake, beginning its harvest. It slithered down into my chest, wrapping around my still beating heart. My intestines were liquefied beneath its never-ending grip. Sickening black bile filled my mouth, yet I didn’t choke. I felt my liver churn into paste, further lubricating what I now understood as the intruder's new shell. Soon, my consciousness felt as if it was freely falling into a cold dark pit. As I awoke, I was on the ground acutely aware that I was no longer the woman I was before. I looked up to see myself. The clock strikes midnight with a loud BONG. I look down at my hands in horror as, once again, long, black, gnarled claws begin to protrude painfully from my fingertips.

Free 3D printing class for kids?? Yes, really. 🖨️✨ After School STEM: 3D Printing starts THIS Tuesday at YDL-Whittaker! Ages 8–14 will design and print their own keychains, name tags, and bookmarks. It’s a 3-week series and spots are limited, so register on our website now!

Support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum isn’t one person’s job. 💗 This Thursday, come to Dads as Doulas: a free, hands-on class for fathers and partners. Two experienced community doulas from Wrapped in Love Doula & Lactation Services will help you feel prepared to support your loved one.
